Thanks for the encouragement Dan. Your response was almost as long as my post and that's a great thing.
As far as acceptability (in as much as behaviors or thoughts), I think academics are too concerned with it - to the point where they stay in a womb of not listening to any outside opinion. That's simply not healthy. It's also not the case at every institution (but it seems to be at a lot of them).
If you are curious about our music, come see us at the Berea Arts Fest this weekend. We go on at 1 and will be around after if you want to talk.
As for the website, we are updating it weekly.
Best

Can it be? Music makers that dare to have begun the essential next step at this great historical moment we all find ourselves watching with either disbelief, disinterest, horror, depression, confusion, or blissful feigned ignorance? The step out of the box of music for strictly stupifying capitalist decoration and into something ELSE? I'm gonna do it, I'm going to be the first REPLY from the CLEVELAND ZEITGEIST. What a refreshing thing to find dissonant gutsy music being made by a dynamic group crossing boundaries, tempting audiences with the prospect of open ears, and now daring to do the Industrially Produced cultural career suicide move: actually being thoughtful about one's work and presenting those thoughts to the public! HAHA! I'll rant with you about the IVORY TOWER, I'm a music maker who found himself unwilling to put himself through the necessary contortions of Higher Education Completion, and now has the fun job of being pork chops in this society rather than eating them. Are you guys prepared to do whats necessary though to REALLY STEP out of the box? To really reject this totally dominating Age of Alienation-of-Concepts in which we live? To take advantage of this Blog and this moment and take this fantastically necessary thinking and writing about CULTURE, AUDIENCE, and ARTIST and also start the dangerous wanderings into the SOCIETY AS A WHOLE? Thats what we need folks, and you all are in a great position to do it. How does this current Excessive Addiction to Perfectly predictable Harmony and Rhythm also fit right in with the necessary avoidance of any dissonance whatsoever? The avoidance of thoughts that aren't totally sugar coated and digestible? The physical avoidance of neighborhoods in Cleveland that bring to a screaming pitch the reality of the chaos we are really caught up in now? The avoidance of any thought that might ACTUALLY be original and NOT spoon fed from a newspaper, Newcaster, or Hollywood Film? That's right fellow culture creators, what do you think? Are yall ready to NOT just talk about CULTURE and it's INS and OUTS but also about the INSANITY of the Society its addressing, and how your work has the real POTENTIAL to ALTER it, to play a major role in shifting the paradigms, in creating new EXPERIENCES of what CULTURE CAN be and really MUST be if we want a chance at living in a livable world. especially in this city? There are plenty of us out here, folks who totally question the ACCEPTABLE THOUGHTS and the ACCEPTABLE BEHAVIORS and the ILLUSION OF UNCHANGEABILITY of these current unprecedentedely POWERFUL systems of mass production and CONTROL. We are hungry for NOT just daring culture, but COURAGEOUS THOUGHT WHICH DARES TO ALSO STEP INTO THE REALM OF THE MENTAL AND POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT WE FIND OURSELVES in right now in Cleveland, and in AMERICA as a whole. THIS HERE is both a support, a HOORAH and THANK YOU, BUT MOST OF ALL a good natured CHALLENGE. I look forward to more posts.
